You walk in nervous. The technician barely looks at you, slaps wax on without warning, rips it off in directions that should be illegal, and acts annoyed when you flinch. You leave red, bumpy, and wondering if you should just shave forever. We have heard this story enough to know it is not unusual.
A good wax is calm. The wax is at the right temperature, applied in small sections, and removed correctly. You are walked through every step. Skin is prepped and finished with the right products so you do not break out. The whole thing takes 15 to 30 minutes for most areas and you leave smooth, comfortable, and a little surprised it was that easy.
"I was very nervous to be waxed after having had a not-so-pleasant bikini wax at another local salon, but Jayna changed all that for me. She made it so comfortable." Gleyty Izquierdo, waxing client
That is the only kind of wax we do at Faciallash Lounge. If you have had a bad experience before, tell your technician at the door. She will adjust the pace, the wax type, and the prep so you actually enjoy the appointment.
Inside the Studio
The base of every wax service, regardless of area.
The area is cleansed of any oil, lotion, or sweat so the wax adheres only to the hair, not your skin barrier.
Hard wax for sensitive areas (face, bikini), soft wax for larger surfaces (legs). We use professional, low-temperature formulas.
Every strip is pulled in the right direction at the right speed. The technique is what makes it bearable, not the wax.
After the wax, any stray hairs are tweezed for a clean finish. No "you missed a spot" moment in the car.
An anti-redness, anti-bump serum is applied after every service so you leave with calm skin, not blotchy skin.
You leave knowing what to avoid for 24 hours and how to prevent ingrowns long-term.
The full timeline so first-time clients arrive without nerves.
You confirm the area, share any sensitivities or recent skin treatments, and tell the technician if this is your first wax with us.
The area is cleansed and a light pre-wax oil or powder is applied to protect the skin without preventing wax adhesion.
For first-time clients, your technician does a small test strip on a less sensitive area so you know what to expect.
The wax is applied and removed in small, manageable sections, never one giant strip. Your technician talks you through pace if you need it.
Stray hairs are tweezed and the area is checked under good lighting before you sit up.
A calming serum or oil is applied to reduce redness and bumps. You get aftercare instructions and book your next appointment if you want.
"I was very nervous to be waxed after having had a not-so-pleasant bikini wax at another local salon, but Jayna changed all that for me. She made it so comfortable. Super professional and diligent with a lovely manner."
"I just had my bikini wax done today by Jayna. She was so sweet and gentle from start to finish. She made me feel very comfortable and walked me through the whole process."
"Jayna is amazing for waxing, facials, brow wax and tint, lash lift. She listens to what I want and asks questions to make sure I am happy with the outcome."
About a quarter inch (the length of a grain of rice). For most people that is 2 to 3 weeks of growth since shaving. Trying to wax hair that is too short causes more pain and patchy results.
The first wax in an area is the most intense. After that, follow-up waxes are noticeably easier because the hair grows back finer and the follicles get used to the process. We use low-temperature wax and small sections to keep the experience as comfortable as possible.
Every 3 to 4 weeks for face. Every 4 to 6 weeks for bikini, legs, and underarm. Sticking to a schedule produces finer regrowth and easier appointments over time.
If you currently use accutane: no, not until you have been off it for at least 6 months. If you use retinol or a strong AHA: yes, but stop using it on the wax area 5 to 7 days before your appointment to prevent the skin lifting with the wax.
No. Shaving disrupts the growth cycle and makes your next wax less effective. Let the hair grow until your next appointment. We know it feels long; commit for one cycle and you will see why.
Ingrowns are usually caused by friction and dead skin trapping new hair. Exfoliate the area gently with a sugar scrub 2 to 3 times a week between waxes, avoid super-tight clothing right after, and use a calming serum if you are prone. Your technician can recommend specific products.
For 24 hours: no hot tubs, no sauna, no intense heat or sweat, no sun, no exfoliating, no fragranced products, no makeup on freshly waxed skin. Your skin barrier needs that day to recover.
